Neighborhood Observation Patrol (NOP)

Crime prevention isn’t complete without concerned citizens organizing and working with law enforcement to patrol areas and look for problems to report. NOP crews assist the police department by patrolling hot spots, making observations, and working with Neighborhood Resource Officers to help focus on problems as they arise.

Paws on Patrol (PoP)

Many of us own dogs. We walk our dogs regularly, take them out to play, they are a part of our lives. Why not use that to fight crime? When you are out walking your dog, let us teach you what to look for and how to report it. You are the front line to notice issues in your neighborhood.

Latent Fingerprinting

Getting your car broken into is a frustrating experience. We are here to help! Our trained volunteer fingerprint crew will lift fingerprints off of your car, make proper documentation, and submit it to forensics for an analysis to see if there is a match in the national database for the person who prowled your car and help bring them to justice.

Operation Family I.D.

Operation Family ID is about protecting your children. Every parent’s worst nightmare is the fear of their child going missing. OFID can help you alleviate some of this fear by allowing you to document important information on your child. We will photograph your child against a backdrop, record their age, height, weight, note other physical characteristics, and take their fingerprints. We give all this information back to you and ask you to come back in and update the information once a year. In the event of an emergency, you have the necessary information ready for the police to help find your child.

Bicycle Registration

Bicycles get stolen and the police are very often able to catch the thieves…only to have no way of matching the bicycle to its owner. Stop by any C.O.P.S. shop and our volunteers will help you register your bicycle so if it disappears and is recovered, we can get it back to you. Not only that, but after our volunteers register your bike, each C.O.P.S. shop has a wide array of bicycle helmets we can give to you or your children at no cost if you need one.

Code Enforcement Reporting

From graffiti to overgrown lawns, broken sidewalks to RVs parked out front, our volunteers are trained in recognizing code enforcement violations for Spokane. We can help you learn what are code violations and what aren’t, how you report them, and we work with the Code Enforcement officials to bring resolution for you.

Crime Free Rental Properties Program

Rental properties can be great family locations or problem units depending on the role that management plays. CFRP is about techniques that management and owners can utilize to create single-family and multi-family properties that are safe and crime free. Housing gets re-certified each year through our CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) program, letting renters know that this is a desirable location to rent from, a place they can truly call home.

Block Watch

The essence of Block Watch is neighbors coming together to look out for each other and keep their immediate neighborhood safe. By learning who belongs and who doesn’t, and communicating issues with each other, strong Block Watches are able to effectively reclaim their neighborhoods and make their area safe for their families. Safe communities start with knowing your neighbors.

Business Watch

Much like Block Watch, Business Watch gets businesses that are in the immediate vicinity of each other together to collectively work on solving issues. Dangerous people in alleyways, high theft, drug deals in the shared parking lot, are all types of things that businesses face. By working together and identifying problems, C.O.P.S. can help work with businesses to create long term solutions that help create a better experience for both shopper and employees, leading to an overall more effective business.
